Ren Valis had one job: stay low, stay alive, and keep the family cheat secret. He has already failed twice by lunch. Planet Edius has fifty years left before the cosmic Gardeners decide whether to promote it, leave it alone, or reset it to a seed. Every cultivator on the planet is racing to produce the prodigy who will save them all. Ren is not that prodigy. Ren is the seventeen-year-old last heir of a fallen noble house, an apparently mediocre Stage Two cultivator, and the most disappointing Valis in three generations. That, at least, is what everyone is supposed to think. What everyone does not know — and what Ren's late grandfather paid a very large cosmic price to hide — is that Ren has inherited the LifeForm Tier System: a cheat that lets him scan any living thing down to its bloodline, optimize it into something better, and store anything from a sword to a forest inside his own soul. He also has a plant-spirit girl living in his inner world who has opinions about his posture, his cooking, and a long-term plan to build him a tea-tree. All Ren has to do is hide his cheat for ten years, attend a prestigious cultivation academy without face-slapping anyone too memorably, and quietly grow into the man his grandfather bet a planet on He is going to fail at this. He is going to fail at it cheerfully.
