In a world where legends and reality clash, Angela Winters finds herself thrust into an enchanting adventure beyond imagination. What started as a dull day punctuated by retreats into fantasy books takes a zany, absurd turn for the magical when a talking cardboard box appears on her porch pleading to be let out. Inside the box is something Angela never expected: a cat in a blue robe and a pointy hat claiming he's a wizard! Soon, they are beset upon by Apathy, a malevolent being seeking to spread desolation and misery. Turns out the creature came from the cat's world and is after Earth next! But, well, the thing is, Angela isn't exactly used to talking wizard-cats, shadows that suck the color out of everything, or anything she's about to see as adventure sweeps her off her feet. Can a humble, totally-not-magical librarian hope to stand strong against a whirlwind of disaster and nihilism?
