In the Kafiaryn Empire, children are taken from their families, stripped of their names, and forged into weapons for the throne. They are called Devshar. They do not dream. They do not choose. They do not question. Ryn has never questioned anything in his life, all until the empire's youngest prince pulls him from the ranks and hands him a choice for the first time, and Ryn finds himself surrounded by people who laugh too loud, smile too often, and treat him like he might be worth something after all. And as if that weren't enough, he somehow finds himself in possession of the power of royalty itself. But the prince is not what he seems. Raesen has spent years building something dangerous. A crew, a plan, and a dream of burning the empire down to its foundations. And somewhere beneath the ash-covered streets of the Kafiaryn Empire, a prophecy older than anyone alive is stirring. One that will demand everything from both of them. One that was never meant to be found. What to expect: A dual protagonist epic fantasy with Ottoman-inspired worldbuilding, morally complex characters, and a slow-burn conspiracy that rewards patient readers. This is a character-driven story with genuine thematic depth rather than rapid power progression. If you enjoy stories that make you think as much as they make you feel, this one is for you.
