Akuma Tiryns, a teenage boy with abnormally good luck, dreams of nothing more than being left alone. Unfortunately, the invisible angel stalking him has other plans in mind. By linking his fate with everyone he meets, Akuma is constantly shown “visions” of their terrible fates. Should he fail to prevent these unfortunate events, Akuma will face a punishment worse than death. His payment? Being called a demon. As it so happens, the world he lives in is governed by a cruel system: Karma decides who is man, and who is filth. The only way to increase one’s Karma is to serve the Sovereigns diligently. Those who neglect this fact are no different from demons in human skin... What he doesn't yet know is that his problems are merely cogs within a greater scheme of misfortune. Demons. Angels. Travelers from other worlds. Beyond the boundary that separates mankind from the gods exists a vast sea of mysteries. Some search willingly. Others have been thrust into the heart of these secrets. Whatever the case, those who find themselves at the epicenter of these mysteries are referred to as “heroes.” Akuma is apparently one of six. Only one has all the answers they seek... The angel who is behind it all.
