Haruto Sudo, a 34-year-old equipment supervisor, was blamed for the accident at the station dungeon by his superiors and was demoted to the person in charge of inspecting the last train. However, on the night the underground emergency door is broken and the explorers are trapped in the collapse, Haruto awakens to a simple skill: repair. It's not the weapons that can be fixed, but the doors, traps, lighting, evacuation routes, and even the discomfort itself before it breaks. Teaming up with Mio Shibasaki, a freelance reporter who covered the entire rescue, Haruto begins reporting on the scene in a dungeon at night, prioritizing human life, and eventually discovers that the government and a major clan have been hiding the falsification of a safety report. People are better saved by repairing broken things than by flashy subjugation. This is the story of an upstart dungeon worker who returns to the site from which he was kicked out, this time of his own free will. Author note: I wrote the original version of this story in Japanese first on Narou. This English post shares the opening chapter for Royal Road readers.
