The Sovereign Stairs

Michael is startled awake in a strange bed, in a strange palace, far from the life he once led. Before the sun rises, he has assumed the duties of a Viceroy on a dangerous fantasy frontier. As guild heroes arrive, he must manage them and their competing interests and needs, building a kingdom that supports the heroes in return for their services defending the realm. But why are they all here? What has happened? What are the demands from the distant Crown leading them all to?
