by Christopher Constantine
Gareth had everything he'd ever wanted. Power, respect, and wealth. Did it make him happy? Well, yes. But years of slaughter does chip away at a man's soul. He had been a good and faithful servant of the Old Gods. All he wanted now was to live out the rest of his life in peace. Luckily, Gareth was already half retired. He had to serve for another two years but just took on easy jobs to train his apprentice. Though, the problem with luck is that it tends to run out. It was another easy job, or so he thought. Gareth had expected a monster he could slay with his eyes closed. What he found, was a terror that would destroy his hope of a peaceful retirement. A terror that would leave him tarnished. *** What to expect: A progression fantasy with a competent protagonist. No LitRPG, just character development, worldbuilding and plot.
