An amnesiac, Merionis awakens with no clear past, only fractured memories of a mysterious woman he cannot quite remember and a forgotten promise he made to her. He is then forced into a deal with a mysterious god who claims to be his creator. Bound to Phrenapatia, a sentient weapon with its own will and voice, he drifts into a vast universe torn apart by rival galactic factions and ruled by divine powers who deal in manipulation as casually as lesser beings deal in breath.
