Four milliliters per square meter. Once my blood dries on a floor, that floor is mine. Inside my claim I am basically a small god. Outside it, the air itself shoves me back the second I try to step through my own front door. So here is my problem. My apartment is forty four square meters. My sister lives on floor three. My parents are two buildings over. My neighbors are dying behind drywall I can hear through. The whole city is ending. And the one place I am allowed to stand is the one place I swore, four years ago, that I would never leave again. I guess I am going to have to grow the apartment. One inch at a time.
