However, after clearing a dungeon, he finds a cursed grimoire that hijacks his magic, penned by the imprisoned goddess of love, which cuts him off from useful summons and binds him to a new purpose: building a harem of monstrously needy women to fuel her breakout. His first 'companion' is Gelica, a slime girl with the shape of a pin-up model and the emotional needs of a puppy, whose biology runs on praise, whose idea of personal space is non-existent, and who calls him 'Master' with unnerving enthusiasm. To unlock more companions, Lothair must navigate a minefield of their bizarre needs, each one a lesson in a subject he's never studied: emotional labour.
