Constanza Vivienne Von Albrecht: The princess of the kingdom of Seycare, a future candidate for queen, and the last of her family to be executed by being burnt alive. As Constanza is incinerated, chained to the dining table she once ate her meals on in one final insult, she desperately begs to be saved with the last of the air in her lungs, yet no help comes. After her death, however, she awakens in her bed eight years prior to the usurpation of her family. Traumatised by the events of her death, she resolves herself that this time, things will be different, even if she has to die again to keep the people she loves safe, and the first order of business is finding herself a bodyguard. Unfortunately, when she organises a tournament to find that bodyguard, the victor ends up being the warmaster of the very organisation that led to her death. Stuck being guarded by the source of her newfound trauma and a man without a history, Constanza continues to try and save her family from the oncoming reckoning despite the scars left by her death, and the dawning realisation that her family might've had more of a hand in their own downfall than she is willing to admit. Above all one question reigns supreme: How long can Constanza keep going before she breaks for good? Author's note - Hey'all, just to give a heads up, this story is likely to go to some pretty dark places at times. I'll put down some proper trigger warnings when I have time, but for now, trigger warnings for detailed violence, starvation, first-person depictions of being burnt alive, suicide/ suicidal ideation, and a whote lot of psychological distress. I'm also going to be messing with the formatting quite a bit, so expect some canonical weirdness with text alignment, fonts, and so on. Lastly, please bear with any repetition or pacing issues in the first few chapters while I find my footing. I'll likely be going back and rewriting them once I've figured out a consistent voice for the story from here on out. With all that out of the way, I hope you enjoy!
