SYSTEM: REQUIEM OF A DEAD WORLD

SYSTEM: REQUIEM OF A DEAD WORLD

by Domopremo

Portal Fantasy / IsekaiProgressionPost ApocalypticAnti-Hero LeadGrimdark

A 30-year-old man dies in the modern world and wakes up in a strange medieval landscape that feels wrong from the moment he arrives. The sky is cracked like broken glass, the air is still, and the first thing he sees is the corpse of a massive dragon made of translucent scales, its body still faintly glowing as if it has not fully stopped existing. There are no gods waiting for him. No explanation. No welcome. Only silence and a world that feels like it is holding itself together by force. As he tries to survive, he quickly realizes this place does not behave like a normal fantasy world. Creatures move in unsettling ways, like memory and instinct have been separated. He encounters beings such as hollow deer that erase thoughts just by being seen and armored figures filled with drifting constellations instead of flesh. The world feels ancient, but also incomplete, like something that is still loading. After surviving his first encounter, he hears a single sound in his mind. Ting. At first he ignores it, but it keeps happening. Eventually, the sound triggers something deeper. A system activates, but not in a clean or friendly way. There is no interface, no clear instructions, only broken messages that appear in his vision like fragments of a damaged program. The system gives him a single directive. Survive twenty four hours without reality collapsing. From that point on, the world begins to react to him. Hidden structures activate. Strange measurements of stability appear. Even the dead dragon in the distance seems to respond to his presence, as if the world itself is adjusting around him. The more he explores, the more unstable everything becomes. Forests feel alive in unnatural ways. Ancient pillars respond to his touch. The sky cracks shift as though they are tracking something. And through it all, he starts to understand something unsettling. He was not chosen to be here. He was placed here. And something else is already watching him from outside the system. As the stability of the world slowly begins to drop, survival stops being about fighting monsters. It becomes about understanding what the world actually is before it breaks completely. Because if stability reaches zero, it will not just mean death. It will mean the world resets. And he is only on his first day.
