Vellris was never meant to survive. After her family is slaughtered by the king’s enforcer, she escapes by taking the only identity left to her: her sister’s. Forced back into the court of the cursed king responsible, she must maintain the stolen identity long enough to earn his trust and kill him. But Dagaz is not simply ruled. It is infected. Power in the kingdom runs deeper than the man who wears the crown, and it has a way of consuming everything in its reach. The court is watching. The forest is waiting. The one man who sees through her lies may also be the only one who understands the darkness taking hold of her.
