Revised Synopsis: Half-Human, Half-Yokai The more she saves, the more the world withers. In this dark tale, we follow a lonely "monster" trapped within a cage of false compassion. Beneath the watchful, deceitful eyes of her master, a young girl reaches desperately for her true destiny. The story begins in the early Edo period on the outskirts of Kyoto. Near the cursed waters of Midorogaike Pond, a desperate couple offered a prayer that gave birth to a girl named Kagura. However, she was born as a "Bearer," chosen by something inhuman, and was soon shunned by the villagers who feared her power. On her fourteenth birthday, after the tragic loss of her parents, she was cast out into a world that wanted nothing to do with her. At the brink of despair, she was saved by Gesshu, a mysterious "Dark Exorcist." He took her in and taught her how to control the grotesque tentacles growing from her back, though his kindness masked a much darker intent. The Half-Human, Half-Demon Arc As Kagura continues her training, she and Gesshu accept a request from Matsuemon, a greedy village headman. He tasks them with eliminating a "rat spirit" that has been raiding his storehouses. However, as Kagura infiltrates the village, she discovers a horror far worse than any spirit. The village is steeped in death and disease, gripped by the desperate and cruel practice of abandoning family members to reduce the number of mouths to feed. The Sea That Devours Time Arc Continuing their journey, Kagura and Gesshu are joined by Oboro, a fierce half-demon girl. Their travels bring them to the legendary shores of Owada, where they witness a strange phenomenon. Three fishermen—Shiro, Tokichi, and Nihei—crawl ashore after surviving a shipwreck, believing they have only been gone a day. In reality, thirty years have passed. While the men have not aged at all, they find themselves cast into a future where their homes and loved ones are long gone. The Sacred Water Arc Kagemasa, a man of noble standing, commissions a mission to locate the legendary "Sacred Water," a substance said to purify all defilement hidden within the depths of the Aokigahara Forest. When Gesshu refuses to accompany them, Kagura is stripped of her emotional anchor and falls into a state of panic. Kagemasa supports her desperately, leading her alongside his elite subordinates into the cursed woods. There, the land itself is alive, transforming the memories and bodies of intruders into seeds. Fleeing laborers are turned into grotesque trees that bear human heads as fruit, screaming insults as they lash out at the living.
