About two hundred years ago, a portal to another dimension opened, and humanity learned that fear was never just a feeling.Beyond the portal lies metum, a world where human phobias take physical form. These phobias can enter someones soul with their own, and collect the fear that person experiences, and feed of of it. Once they eat someones fear they get stronger and more powerful. But once the phobia's piece of soul leaves the persons soul, the person dies (read the story to find out why). Since then, society has changed. The existence of Phobias is public knowledge, and governments created an elite profession to keep humanity safe: phobia slayers. They are highly trained fighters who enter Metum to hunt the creatures born from human fear.Because the job is deadly, future slayers must attend a specialized high school where students train to survive battles against creatures created by the darkest parts of the human mind.But becoming a slayer means more than learning how to fight. Every student carries fears of their own, and in a world where fear has power, facing them might be the most dangerous challenge of all.
