Introduction to the World (The story will gradually reveal the details, so this introduction is optional.) The planet was slowly recovering from the Second World War. It wasn’t until around 1960, with the invention of the microchip, that nations began to feel threatened and envious, splitting into two opposing groups: “the Victorians” and “the Visionaries.” The Victorians, blinded by their traditions and reluctant to adopt microchip-based technology, championed a more mechanical and classical approach, relying on complex systems of nuts, gears, and steam. The Visionaries, on the other hand, fully embraced innovation and saw microchips as the future of humanity—a tool that would allow progress without any setbacks along the way. This ideological divide quickly sparked conflicts, giving rise to what became known as “the Renaissance War,” a clash that turned into the bloodiest and most devastating conflict in human history. As a result of the war, countless people suffered fatal injuries, which accelerated the development of new types of medicine. The change was so profound that it marked a clear before and after in the history of medical science. Nations already possessed atomic bombs, and this became the breaking point that unleashed a nuclear war. In its aftermath, more than 60% of the global population vanished. Hunger and violence ruled over the most devastated regions. After eight years of conflict, the Visionaries emerged victorious. They thrived thanks to their microchip-based technology, revolutionizing every other invention and achieving a symbolic leap forward in their scientific progress. However, driven by pride and ideological differences, the Victorians refused to use that technology. Thirty-eight years after the war, the oceans bore the consequences: marine life was almost completely wiped out, just like the regions where nuclear warheads had obliterated everything in their path. This created deep social divisions, economically and socially marginalizing those who lived in the devastated zones. Because of all these problems, nations imposed extremely strict rules to prevent the crimes that had nearly destroyed the world from ever happening again. In this context, Jacob, a 19-year-old immigrant, lives with his mother after moving to one of the victorious countries in search of a better future. His family was severely affected by the war, and now he struggles to find an opportunity in a world still scarred by its tragic past. End of the introduction.
