The world of Lumen, while seeming to stabilize on equivalence, is quite unfair. Be it the existence of the Song, and those unable to use its attunements, Or the Flawed, rare individuals who are born lacking something others possess. Instead they have something others do not, a Boon. While some Flaws and Boons create a wonderful balance, the majority do not. It’s possible that someone could become completely crippled due to their flaw, while also having a boon that does very little to make up for such a flaw. The opposite could also be true. A flaw that barely affects someone's life, and a boon that allows that someone to soar higher than anyone else. Such things are truly up to luck, and to say that this system was fair would be a lie. Charlotte and Mira, two girls born in the same nation, both with flaws, and both with boons. However, the weight of their flaws and the weight of their boons is quite different. While Charlotte is praised as a genius due to her flaw seemingly allowing her to learn everything taught to her with ease, her body became weak and fragile. Mira, on the other hand, is also a genius, and on the outside, appears to have no flaw whatsoever. Indeed, from an outside perspective, it seems that both were blessed, but one was given a curse that outweighs the other. However this is not the case. Though Charlotte’s body may be weak and fragile, perhaps what may cause her ruin is none other than her boon. While Mira may appear to be flawless on the outside, if one were to look inward, they would find something quite tragic. This is the story of a girl who shines as bright as the sun, and a girl who can only hope to reflect a fragment of that light.
