Birth. The miracle of life. Usually a joyous occasion, celebrations ring and angels sing. Usually. Finding yourself alive in a new body is terrifying, full of moral quandaries and past regrets. Having been, as it is colloquially known, "isekai'd", Ferdinand von Kriegbaum must face a different world and his own conscience, armed with nothing but an overinflated sense of his own intellectual superiority. Alone and without purpose, he must not only find a way to prosper in a world full of monsters and magic, but also navigate the treacherous realm of court intrigue, grand politics, and, most crucially, his own family.
