Isaac Newton doesn't exist. Not anymore. Not yesterday. Not three hundred years ago. The textbooks have rewritten themselves, the professors have never heard the name, and the internet returns no results for Isaac Newton — only a country singer and a brand of biscuits. Seven billion people agree: the man never lived.Gu Chuan is the only one who remembers. He has hyperthymesia — a memory that cannot be overwritten — and on a rainy October morning in his physics lecture, he watched the world edit itself in real time. Then the voice started. Arrogant, seventeenth-century, furious: 'That German Kepler bastard stole my laws.'With a dead genius parasitising his skull and reality quietly downgrading around him — days shortening, signal standards rolling back, his own attendance records disappearing one by one — Gu Chuan discovers he is not the first person to notice the cracks. Someone has been here before. They left pencil annotations in forgotten library books. They tore out a single page and took it with them.At midnight, between 23:59 and 00:00, something is being trimmed from the world. And the thing doing the trimming has started to notice him back.
