Through the Shadow

The story will follow around two characters, Ria and Cassian. Ria was the daughter of a wealthy merchantman, and Cassian is the youngest son of the Black King, a man who controls the underworld. Cassian, being the youngest and not expected to take over the mantle of Black King, acts as an enforcer for his family, ensuring clients pay their dues and loans get repaid. The two met when Ria got bored and attended a party that Cassian also happened to be attending. As the party was less than clean, Cassian takes it upon himself to protect her for the night, and they end up attending more parties together for several months. To end their fun, Ria's father decided to marry her off for political gain. The day before the wedding, Ria discovers that her husband-to-be plans on selling her to the underworld to cover his gambling debts, and decides to run away. Cassian, aware of her predicament, decides to pay off her ex-fiancé's books and takes her into the underworld with him, claiming her as "payment," thereby taking her out of play from her family.
