The story follows Maren Solís, a dead urban planner recruited by a mysterious divine bureaucracy to document collapsing worlds before they vanish. In these opening chapters she arrives at Véu, a beautiful coastal city of leaning towers connected by wooden bridges — and discovers that the sea consuming it isn’t rising naturally. Someone is doing it deliberately. And another cartographer with an identical compass was here three years ago, stealing evidence.
