My grandmother used to tell me this story long ago, and every time I tell it now it reminds me of those early days. She loved to make pies and cakes, and when she passed away she left me two things, her 200,000 word manuscript that she told me she always wanted to publish on royal road, which was about three friends who used sneaky tricks and the power of fancy words to work their way up the ranks of an oppressive system, and her apple pie recipe.
