He wakes again on Veyra, a world where reality can be rewritten through the Prismheart inside every living thing. Magic is everywhere, but it is not free. Push your Prismheart too hard and it can collapse into an Ash Heart, a starving engine that devours the world around it. Those failures become Nullborn, walking ecological disasters that kingdoms erase from maps. Arlen does not want power for its own sake. He wants the first real problem that can fight back. When a sickness called the Ash Vein spreads through a major city, stripping mages of their craft and turning victims into something worse, Arlen sees a pattern no priest can bless away. Someone engineered this. Someone is farming collapse. To survive, Arlen must do what he has never done before: stake his life on an unknown science, outgrow institutions built to suppress it, and step into the wild where the Crowned beasts rule by ancient law. Because if he is right, the Ash Vein is not a plague.
