In the world of the Shatterwater Ocean, civilization is held in an iron grip by the Seven Tidal Thrones — seven empire-islands that control trade, law, and war across the known seas. Beneath their rule, an ancient art called Bloodforging has been declared illegal and its practitioners hunted to extinction. Bloodforgers can sacrifice their own life force to forge weapons that absorb the souls of the fallen — weapons that think, argue, remember, and sometimes refuse. On the lawless island of Gravemoor, a nameless young man washes ashore. No memory. No past. Only a jagged scar on his palm that bleeds black — impossible, since no living human has black blood. He takes the name Benimaru — meaning "crimson circle" in an old tongue, a joke about his wound that sticks — and within days, instinctively Bloodforges his first weapon with a mastery that should take decades to develop. A crew begins to form around him: a disgraced cartographer, a tattooed giant, an ambiguous thief, and a defecting doctor. Together they sail outward, toward the edge of all known maps. But the deeper they go, the more the souls inside Benimaru's weapons whisper things they shouldn't know. Things about him. Things he buried. The question driving the series is not "what is Benimaru?" — it is "what did Benimaru decide to become, and what did he destroy to do it?"
