Aryu wanted to disappear. His mother ran into the fire to drag him out, and the fire took her instead. She woke up twenty-two years old in another world, a retired ballerina with a kingdom to build and a pack of winged wolves at her heels. She has to carry new responsibilities, face new adversaries, in a second chance given to her on accident. She is also, slowly, forgetting she ever had a son. Aryu knows why. The thing that took her left something behind, and it has made him an offer. It will keep her safe, warm, and whole. In exchange, he will give it the only thing it is hungry for... ...making people suffer. She gets to be warm, while he pays the price.
