Following a spate of kidnappings and gang violence, Amara, a Half-Cambodian Vampire, and her husky companion, Shadow, discovered a plot by a terrorist organisation calling itself the Lusus Naturae. This group are made up of supernatural creatures who have been living hidden from humans. They seem to be well connected, and use magic to exploit the corruption of New Mercia City. Now the Lusus Naturae wish to destroy all vampires, and they will stop at nothing to achieve this, even if humans are caught in the crossfire. Meanwhile, Shadow is changing. After being bitten by a werewolf, Amara’s pet shape changes with the full moon, and is learning how to control his new humanlike body. Amara wants to help him, but she is also seeking revenge on the vampire leader who killed her parents. Old friends and enemies further complicate matters. Will she be able to juggle all of this while living homeless on the streets? Or will the police be able to track her down before she can help her friends?
