[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Long before the "System" was born, there was a Necromancer. Johann fell into Necromancy almost by chance. He did not deny his poor choices that led him there, but he despised the things he and his colleagues did. He would have chosen any other path, if he thought it could bring him to his goal. Alas, Necromancy was the only suitable path that he knew of. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, for him, his research is suddenly cut short before it can bear fruit. He loses his home, unpleasant as it may be, and is hurtled forward into the world. Now, he must face his past, his old friends and enemies, and the future ahead of him. He must recover to his peak, reach new heights, and grasp what he wants through his own efforts. His success, or lack thereof, however, remains to be seen. What to Expect: - Relatively detailed descriptions of Magic; - Strategic use of Magic; - Increasingly Epic stakes; - Relatively in-depth approach to Necromancy; What not to expect: - Glorified or light-hearted Necromancy; - Overpowered Protagonist; - Redeemable villains. The world is heavily inspired by a certain famous Tabletop RPG, but meant to have a relatively consistent internal logic to magic and superhuman abilities. Hopefully it strikes your fancy.
