The Debt of the Dead

A disciplined party—a paladin, a broken healer, a ruthless dual-wielder, and a quiet wizard—carry out these mercy killings without question. But as strange memories surface and victims begin to recognize them, the truth begins to unravel. When they uncover a hidden ledger listing their own deaths years ago, they realize the horrifying truth: they are not alive, but constructs powered by the souls they harvest. As the line between duty and monstrosity collapses, the party must decide—continue feeding the system that sustains the city… or destroy it, and finally allow the world to die.
