Prophecy: The Age of Desolation

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Gareth Aurol, second prince of the kingdom, is the child of prophecy. A prophecy that will see him put at odds with the world. His advisors, his family, and - eventually - his kingdom will turn on him as the threads of the prophecy begin to unravel before him. He will need to keep his wits about him as he navigates the hostile royal court and the plots gods foreign to this land.  Accompanying him are specters of the old gods. Agents of powerful magic who have a strange obsession with the prophecy.
