Penda is dead, and Wessex seeks to claim land lost to the last Pagan king of Mercia. The first step is taking the strategic, uncanny hillfort of Baden Burgh. Prince Constans rides forth to harry the defenders when his army, the besieged enemy fortress and the eerily-fertile soil around it disappear under a shimmering blue dome... When the blue fades, they are in a different world, surrounded by strange forests inhabited by monsters beyond their wildest imaginations. Constans must forge multiple races and sworn enemies into a cohesive society. WINNER of the April 2026 Writeathon. ***Please note*** Though I entered and won the April 2026 Writeathon, I have decided to keep writing and posting my story as a record of my first draft going forward. I am an extreme panster, and even I don't know exactly where Constans and the Aenglisc are going. My goal is to rewrite and post a cleaned up version eventually, so any and all criticisms are welcome and will be considered in the rewrite. Please join me for the ride.
