Deck of Dragons

Hamlet failed his test. He might never be a dragon tamer.  When a battle in the sky results in a wounded white dragon falling into the woods near Hamlet's home, he goes to find it. This dragon is old and powerful, and agrees to a bargain that places him in the Heart Space of a boy. Hamlet must carry the dragon to a distant leyline so that it can heal, but the only way to gain access to the leyline is by winning the Vulcan National Tamer Tournament and becoming a dragon master.  So he's going to do that.
