As children, Joshua and Connor grow up deeply linked, their relationship grounded in instinctive understanding and shared dreams of exploration. When Joshua enters the Bonding Academy, he is trained in the art of partnership where he learns to move, think, and endure in harmony with another. As Elias begins to decline, the education system, including the Academy , start to unravel. Instead of focusing on lasting partnership, youth are focused on existential mission training.
