by AuthorDuncan
Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge. Colonel Duncan arrives on Guahan expecting an island vacation assignment. When he is placed in charge of construction cutting into the island’s limestone cliffs and tangled green interior, ancient petroglyphs surface from the earth alongside genetic evidence that should not exist. What begins as another military assignment at a remote munitions site quickly becomes something far older and far more dangerous, a mystery buried beneath roots, rock, and reef. With the help of a brilliant Chamorro brother and sister, Duncan begins to uncover the remnants of a forgotten world hidden beneath accepted history, a world of gods, spirits, and sacred powers once woven through ocean voyaging, bloodline, fire, storm, reef, and death. Across cultures, fragments of that older truth survived as myth. On Guahan, the jungle kept them alive. At the center of that hidden world are dogs, not merely companions, but guardians, messengers, and guides through whom warning, memory, and communion still flow.
