Kai Ren is seventeen, starving, and the best scavenger in a graveyard of dead machines. When he cracks open a server that should have been empty, he finds an object that shouldn't exist. It's warm. It's heavy. And something inside it is watching him. Within hours, the most dangerous enforcer in Neo-Shenzhen is hunting him. Within days, the object bonds with his body in ways that no technology should be able to. Within a week, Kai discovers that beneath the city — beneath the earth — a vast structure stretches downward into the dark, and the people who live inside it have never seen the sky. He can't go back. He can barely survive going forward. And far below, in the deep places, something that has been sleeping for eleven thousand years has started to wake up. — Updates Monday & Thursday.
