Blood... Golden Ichor, ancient and magnificent, fell onto the Earth after the End of Ragnarok, changing humanity for all time and reshaping the very landscape of the Mortal Plane. The mere release of such divine energy from the dying gods awakened in all humans the capacity for magic, and for those who were touched by the sacred ichor they were blessed with tremendous, endless potential. Unique gifts and powers, passed along lines to create the greatest of forces.  Soon, after the Great War for Magic, the world fell into order once more. Colonies formed great kingdoms, each with a collection of powers and purpose, where people would serve their their lords and ladies with the trained power within, the power of the Divine! Only... Cypress isn't of an ancient line, he is the literal first in his family to ever attempt magic and the only one to enter Reign Academy, a place of Witches and Knights. Mocked and turned down at every turn, watching his idiot classmates as they live on the gifts of nepotism and divinity, he seeks out his own power. Through effort, training and the help of a rather elegant Older Lady named Agnes who catches him as he struggles to manifest the powers of his classmates found so easy. Though she too is of a new line, and is currently very, very ill, she still passes on all she knows to the boy in the hopes that at least one of them would break the cycle of nepotism ruling their world.
