Mara Gunn is a woman held together by stubbornness and love. Unemployed, in chronic pain, and back living with her father Walter, a man with an oxygen tank, a recliner, and more wisdom than he lets on, she is running out of options and running out of time. When a mysterious business card leads her to NeuroVault, a company promising financial salvation in exchange for something she can't quite bring herself to agree to, Mara does what desperate people do. She signs anyway. What follows is a story about what corporations do to people when they decide the human body is a resource, what a daughter will sacrifice for the people she loves, and what happens when a typo in a line of code becomes something nobody planned for. NeuroVault is a science fiction thriller set in the not too distant future, but at its heart it is a story about a father and a daughter, the lengths we go to for the people we love, and the quiet, stubborn persistence of hope in a world that keeps trying to extinguish it. Some things are worth fighting for. Mara is about to find out which ones.
