Hopeless Wings

In the year 2049, humanity was on the verge of extinction due to nuclear warfare. Three groups of people with strange abilities appeared and claimed to be from a distant world on the verge of extinction. They said they had come to give Earth a chance at life. The groups asked for help in liberating their world. Earth's remaining few choose to put their faith in this new world and follow the groups back to their world, which they call The Cone. The Cone was an odd tower, shrouded in mystery; even the groups knew little about it. A few hundred years into the future, humanity had fully adapted to the life of the new world. A few months after the 500th anniversary of life on The Cone, a boy named Bird had just been pushed into a hole that was several layers deep. Bird burned with rage, vowing to survive The Cone and claim revenge on those who had tormented him. But would it be that simple? How many more enemies would he make along the way? Could he truly stand against the truly powerful? Hope? Freedom? A wingless bird cannot fly from predators but lingers to be eaten.
