Centuries after the 1000 year war, the nations of the world have formed again, forever changed, but still compelled by their human nature to be distinct but equal. Countries are divided not just by borders but by purpose. Those who do not fit that country's purpose are thrown out and must survive on their own. Due to the harsh conditions, brutal lifestyle, and scarce resources most don't last a day. Unless they are saved by The Merchant of course.
