# FLOW: The Algorithm of War --- **Day 0. Five undersea cables. Seven timers. One strait.** At 120 meters below the Taiwan Strait, a diver attaches a device to a fiber-optic cable. The timer reads 05:59:59. In six hours, twenty-three million voices will go silent. A fisherman in Hsinchu notices the horizon is empty. Forty years on this water, and Chinese boats have never been absent. Not once. A CIA analyst in Langley stares at a number: 78%. No one reads his report. A signals officer in Shanghai calls her sister. Says something she's never said before. "I love you." Her sister wonders why. The countdown has begun. No one can stop it. --- **What this story is:** A multi-perspective war novel set during a fictional Chinese invasion of the Taiwan Strait. Told through the eyes of fishermen, submarine officers, drone operators, diplomats, and the mothers who wait — on both sides. There are no heroes. No villains. Only people caught in the current. A Taiwanese minesweeper listens through sonar and recognizes a propeller she studied years ago — sixty meters below, the man she once held hands with is inside that submarine. A Chinese soldier shares his water ration with an enemy child. When asked why, he says: "Because she's thirsty." An old fisherman jumps into the March sea to pull drowning enemy soldiers from the water. "A person in the water is not a soldier." --- **What to expect:** - **Hard techno-thriller.** Sonar acoustics, naval mine warfare, semiconductor supply chains, HVAC systems on aircraft carriers. The details are real.- **Rational fiction.** No chosen ones. No plot armor. Characters make the best decisions they can with what they have — and live with what follows.- **Humanity.** When the algorithm says "starve them out," someone chooses mercy instead. When the missile says "fire," someone chooses to hold. The war is the backdrop. The choices are the story. 71 chapters. Complete. One chapter per day. --- *"Water does not stop. Tides change. On the changed tide, people are living."*
