Ryōta got a dead clan's bloodline that makes his body cannibalize itself, an old blacksmith who teaches him metallurgy instead of jutsu, and maybe a third of the plot that's out of order and fading fast every time he actually needs it. A war is coming. He has years, probably. He's spending them at the forge, passing out from iron deficiency, and pretending to be average at the Academy....which, unfortunately, is not that hard to fake.
