The Spirit Trials follows Mark Lydo, a boy from a poor but caring family in a world where power is gained by bonding with spirits from the astral realm. At sixteen, individuals are tested for their compatibility with this realm, those who succeed can form spirit bonds and train to become stronger, while others remain ordinary. Mark’s life is upended when his city is destroyed by monsters, leaving him as the sole survivor of his family. Driven by grief and anger, he forms a pact with a mysterious spirit named Finn Silver, gaining the chance to pursue strength and revenge. He travels to a distant country to attend a prestigious academy, where he trains, competes, and begins to uncover the dangers of both the world and the powers he now holds. As Mark grows stronger, he faces increasingly difficult challenges from rival students to deadly monsters, and learns that larger forces may be behind the destruction he seeks to avenge.
