Like them, Ellie stumbles into an extraordinary world where she cannot afford to stay for too long. On the island, magic is something to be survived. Students all chase after something they call “school”: dangerous insights, body and mind-warping rituals, revelations which alter your perspective. Ellie feels an overwhelming responsibility to gather what she can before returning to the places and people of her past. Can she manage it before the island reshapes her into someone... or something unrecognizable. This is story about what it costs to learn real magic.
