After Millenia of drifting in the Warp, a stray soul finds an Anchor in the material realm. Thrust into the body of Inquisitor Alexa Lochford of the Ordo Maladictum, who was forced to undergo extensive augmentation after suffering mortal wounds. Our protagonist is centre stage in the aftermath of a world-shattering investigation. With only fractured memories to guide her, she must adapt to her new body while facing a reality that has no mercy and a situation that is spiralling out of control with no one at the helm. With no room to breathe and no time to hesitate, The Clockwork Inquisitor must step into the boots of her predecessor or her second chance at life may be a very short one indeed. What to expect No Romance: I have no romance planned. Close companions that share a long history: The MC will have to work with a variety of characters, some loyal, some shady. Big Fights: This is 40k Rule of Cool: This is 40k A Radical Inquisitor: The MC has modern-day values, and from this, she may do things or work with people that would see her shot if she were not an Inquisitor. Slow Burn: This is more of a result of how I have written things so far. Lots of detail, a fair amount of exposition at the beginning. with slice-of-life elements as the protagonist adjusts to life in the 41st/42nd Millennium. No Entry Requirement: Though it may come in exposition, I will attempt to explain factions and individuals as if for those with no knowledge of them. This is a stab at an idea I thought would be cool, primarily formed from scenes in my head I wanted to see played out, and theorycrafting numerous what-ifs in the Warhammer 40K setting. The setting is primarily set in the Void. Big epic Battle Fleet Gothic style space battles, contrasted by imperial politics and Inquisitorial investigations as our protagonist races against the advancing forces of Chaos to secure valuable Noctalith (Black stone) in the wake of the 13th black crusade and the forming of the Great Rift. The protagonist will be strong and have access to a great deal of resources and equipment from the start, but this is the 40K Universe. The protagonist and her crew are not the biggest fish in the sea.
