MYTHOS [Progression Fantasy]

Argo came to Frostbound to reunite with his family and register with the guild. He brought his axes, his spirit wolf, and his brother's stolen ship. Simple trip. Three days, maybe four. Then the relay tower went dark. The draugr came out of the mountain — hundreds of them, pouring through breaches in the settlement walls. That part wasn't new. Frostbound had always fought its dead. But these dead were wrong. Yellow aura where there should be none. Coordination where there should be shambling. Bite marks that turned mindless corpses into something organized. And above the mountain, a storm that wasn't weather — something wearing lightning like a disguise, broadcasting a signal that made the dead move with purpose. Argo can taste storms. He knows what real weather feels like. This one has teeth. Now he's trapped in a besieged settlement with his siblings, a wolf who communicates in hyphenated opinions, a witch whose lightning tastes like apricot, and a mounting suspicion that whatever is hiding in that mountain isn't finished. The dead are a symptom. The cause is still up there. And something inside Argo — something old and red and patient — wants him to stop thinking and start destroying. He'd prefer not to.
