Caelan was born in a Dust mine, named by a stranger, and entered in a ledger before he could speak. At thirteen, the mountain answers him. Now the SDC wants him back, a hunter is following his footprints through the stone, and he has six kids to keep alive on the road south. He is patient. But even stone can crack.
