Being a teenager is hard. Being a superhero is harder. Being both at the same time? You’re basically screwed. I’m Bloombolt, an alien runaway, full-time student, and full-time supervillain douchebag magnet. For the better part of three years, I’ve been pretending to be Laura Lora—which wasn’t exactly a creative play on my real name, Lauralora. My Disguise-A-Watch makes me look human when it’s not glitching out. Lets me maintain a double life here in New Haven, the City of Lights, once protected by legends. Men and women whose names the whole world knew. Unfortunately, legends retire. Legends die. Legends disappear when the times change too much, too quickly. Now the city belongs to gangs, monsters, madmen, and little ol’ me. And, of course, Jenna Morrison. My brilliant, sharp-tongued, cybernetically accessorized best friend. The main bitchy reason this ridiculous, festering armpit of a planet started feeling like home. A charming armpit, if that makes sense. Between keeping my identity under wraps, surviving school, and dealing with whatever decides to level a city block on any given day, I’ve got just enough time left to ruminate on every mistake I’ve ever made. And that’s no small number. Now the world’s stagnant superhero scene is stirring again. Old names are resurfacing. New ones are answering the call. And evil, stupid doo-doo heads with grand plans are starting to make their moves. Which means I’m needed more than ever. So I do what I can. Punch the bad guys. And try not to fail math. One absurd, catastrophic day at a time…
