Duniya

by Nemmy004

ActionAdventureDramaHistoricalMale Lead

Set in the early 19th century, Duniya unfolds in the aftermath of the fall of the Hausa city-states,following the destruction of the Gobir kingdom in 1808 during the rise of the Sokoto Caliphate.Once an elite Dogari—a royal guard trained from childhood to protect the king andpalace—Duniya survives the collapse of his world but is blinded amid the chaos of its fall. Theroyal system he served is erased, his brothers-in-arms slaughtered or scattered, and thekingdom that defined his purpose reduced to memory. Now a blind wanderer, Duniya drifts from village to village across a fractured land shaped bydisplacement, fear, and shifting power. He carries two blades: a common takoba used in battle, and a wrapped ceremonial sword inscribed with symbols of Gobir’s vanished royalty. The bladeis not merely a weapon, but a relic of a political order that no longer exists—one that makesDuniya both a living reminder of the past and a potential threat to the present. The story begins at ground level. Duniya struggles to survive in hostile marketplaces andunfamiliar settlements, where blindness marks him as weak and his past is unknown. When heintervenes during the kidnapping of a child, violence finds him again. Forced into combat,Duniya reveals that despite his blindness, he has adapted—fighting through heightenedhearing, spatial awareness, and disciplined restraint. The encounter leaves him wounded andexposed, drawing attention to who he is and what he carries. As the narrative progresses, the story explores Duniya’s inner conflict: a warrior trained forabsolute loyalty in a world that no longer values such devotion. Haunted by the fall of Gobir andthe bloodshed of the jihad era, he resists returning to violence even as circumstancesrepeatedly test him. Through his journey, the reader witnesses the human aftermath of empirecollapse—not through grand political figures, but through villages, refugees, bandits, displacedsoldiers, and quiet acts of survival.
