Aela has spent her entire life in a quiet cottage by the sea, raised by her guardian Eldrin and knowing nothing of the world beyond the shoreline. She has no memory of her parents—only the question of why they left her behind. Her days are simple and peaceful, but that peace begins to unravel when Eldrin reveals that the Archon of the Grand Arcanium—the most powerful mage in the kingdom—is coming to see her. Moments later, reality itself tears open. A portal forms inside her home, and from it steps Mila, a mage of immense power, offering Aela a chance to leave everything she has ever known behind. Drawn into a world of magic, distant cities, and forces far beyond her understanding, Aela stands at the edge of a life she never imagined. And though she doesn’t yet know why— everything is about to change.
