GHOST APOCALYPSE

GHOST APOCALYPSE

Time TravelUrban FantasyProgressionPost ApocalypticStrategy

In the year 2692, the last living human walked back into the Time Gate. His name was Gu Cun. He was fifteen years old — physically, because something in his body had refused to age normally across six and a half centuries. He was also, in the ways that matter, older than anyone had ever been. He had watched humanity prepare for an apocalypse across 666 years. He had watched every hope become a trap. He had crossed every name off a list of 666 people one by one, each crossing a grief, each grief a weight he could no longer put down. And when it was over — when the ritual completed and the Entity spoke and the world ended the way he had always known it would — he stepped back into the gate.He arrived in 2026.He was the last one through. 200,000 people had entered before him — walking willingly into the light, believing they were saving humanity. They died thinking they succeeded. He is the only one who knows they did not. He carries that knowledge the way he carries the canvas bag on his back: present, warm, specific, impossible to set down. The bag contains three things. A list of 666 handwritten names — his own not among them. A torn page from a censored ghost codex that reveals itself one line at a time, only after each death costs him something human. And the bound spirit of the old Daoist master who spent thirty years searching for him and then stayed at the gate so he could leave. The world he arrives in is ordinary. A Tuesday afternoon in 2026. Nobody can see what he carries behind his eyes. A stray dog will not stop barking at the bag.He can see the dead. The ones who are still here — trapped mid-task, wandering streets they cannot leave, anchored to the moment of their dying — these he can see. And the rules that govern them are the only surviving legal system in a world that does not yet know it is going to need one.His mission is not to survive. He has already survived. His mission is to find every person on the 666-name list, gather the fragments of a broken lineage scattered across centuries, and make the sacrifice of 200,000 people retroactively true. He is not trying to change the future. He is trying to justify the past. This is the story of one witness walking back through 666 years of a world he has already lost — knowing what comes, unable to prevent it, refusing to look away. Every advancement costs him something human. Every death costs him a sense, a memory, a piece of the person he was before the gate. The horror is not the ghosts. The horror is what he becomes in order to face them. And the question — never answered until the final page — of whether the thing that survives 666 years of loss is still the person the 200,000 died for.
