This is a dark fantasy rewriting of "Moara cu Noroc" ("The Lucky Mill") by Ioan Slavici, reimagined in the same world as my other fictional work, "The Nameless Monster", where its core themes of greed, fate, and moral decay are pushed into a harsher, more dangerous setting.
Ghita takes over a remote inn on a lawless road, chasing money, control, and a better life, and for a while, it actually works until Lica appears, a man who seems to own everything and everyone around him, slowly pulling Ghita into a world of crime, pressure, and impossible choices where every step forward costs him something, and the deeper he goes, the harder it becomes to tell whether he is fighting to survive or willingly becoming something worse.
